Shopify moves checkout extensibility deadline again, giving Plus merchants until spring
Shopify has pushed the date by which Plus merchants must move off checkout.liquid to spring 2027, the third extension since the original 2025 cutoff. The note appeared in the changelog this morning with no accompanying blog post.
Agencies we spoke with put the share of Plus stores still on legacy checkout at roughly one in five. Most of the holdouts are tied to older subscription and loyalty integrations that have not shipped checkout extensions.
